And before I know it, I'm in too deep with my best friend's father. First he claims my body, then he claims my heart. We shouldn't act on these urges, but we can't help ourselves. It's so wrong, but every kiss, every caress, every stroke feels so right. There's something about this chemistry that's so intoxicating, and the more I get to know him, the harder it becomes for me to resist these impulses that overtake me-that leave me wanting him to show me what it feels like to have a man inside me. He awakens something within me-something that's always been here, but that's never pulled so powerfully.not until I looked into those solemn blue eyes and felt the red-hot spark of his touch. Then I meet the intense, hot-as-hell, tattooed Eric Westright, who wrecks my world.in the best possible way. When I find a girl who's eager to mess around with me, I figure I've got it made. JESSE: A beach vacay with my best bud since college seems like the perfect opportunity to relax, catch some rays, and enjoy a couple of nights on the town. 6/29/2023 0 Comments Number the stars readHowever, her former fiancé, Peter, who is partially based on the Danish resistance member Kim Malthe-Bruun, continues to help them. She risks her life to help her best friend, Ellen Rosen, by pretending that Ellen is Annemarie's late older sister, Lise, who was killed earlier in the war by the Nazi army because of her work with the Danish Resistance. Annemarie becomes a part of the events related to the rescue of the Danish Jews, when thousands of Jews were to reach neutral ground in Sweden to avoid being relocated to concentration camps. The story revolves around ten-year-old Annemarie Johansen, who lives with her mother, father, and sister Kirsti in Copenhagen in 1943. Number the Stars is a work of historical fiction by the American author Lois Lowry about the escape of a family of Jews from Copenhagen, Denmark, during World War II. 6/29/2023 0 Comments Wolfie the Bunny by Ame DyckmanYou'll be relieved to hear that there is no bunny massacre at the end of this story. When Dot comes back, Wolfie shadows her everywhere, much to Dot's frustration. To be honest, I did begin to wonder at this point if the finale to this tale was going to involve the sad demise of poor Dot! Dot decides to go and play at her friend's house instead and, when she leaves, Wolfie cries for the first time. Dot does not sleep well, and when her friends come around to visit they all scream en masse 'He's going to eat us all up!' but, once again, there is no response from Dot's parents. Wolfie settles in quickly, happily eating carrots and sleeping very well. Mama and Papa Bunny are immediately charmed by their new baby, but big sister Dot remains alarmed, shouting out 'He's going to eat us all up!' but receiving no response from her smitten parents! Fortunately for you, this book will cover all of those requirements! Wolfie the bunny arrives in the Bunny family's lives in a rather suspicious way, when he is left on their doorstep in a basket. Or it may just be that you like a good story that's fun to read. It may be that you have a wolf- or rabbit-obsessed toddler. It may be that you are on the lookout for a useful picture book that deals with sibling rivalry in a helpful way. 6/29/2023 0 Comments Love that dog book(There is no note at the beginning of the book to point the reader to the appendix.) But it’s a quick read, offering a chance to go back and look again. Others not already familiar with these famous poems, though, might miss the allusions in Jack’s work. The inclusion of the eight poems is an advantage, because comments on the poems are often part of Jack’s poetry. Jack’s poetry grows in length, complexity, and quality from September to May, until he proudly sends his best poem about his dog and a heartfelt thank-you poem to Walter Dean Myers after the author’s school visit. Jack’s class assignments incorporate responses to eight well-known poems (included in an appendix) and gradually reveal the circumstances, and Jack’s hidden feelings, about the loss of his beloved dog. He questions the very nature of poetry, forcing the reader to think about this question, too. Creech knows all about reluctant writers from her own years of teaching, and she skillfully reveals Jack’s animosity toward books and poetry, and especially about writing his own poems. 862, etc.) continues to explore new writing paths with her latest, written as free verse from the viewpoint of a middle-school boy named Jack. Now Jafar owns me, and even as my mind rails against his rules, my body loves the punishments he deals out when I break them.īut a gilded cage is still a prison, I’ll do anything to obtain my freedom. Walk away with nothing but my freedom… Or rise to his challenge and win my fortune back. As my world burned down around me, he offered me a choice. One night, and my entire life went up in flames. I will tell you that it is very much out of my comfort zone, and only Katee could have gotten me to pick this book up. You’ll have to check out DESPERATE MEASURES to find out! About Desperate Measures: I don’t know where Katee Robert got the idea for this series from, but oh my goodness, she is hella wicked I’m not even sure how to review Desperate Measures because my main thought throughout the book was OMG WHAT. All my favorite stories and movies as a kid… Well, I was kind of hoping that maybe the bad guys would win.Įnter my Wicked Villains series, which is straight up fantasy wish fulfillment that follows the question… What would happen if the villain of the story won? And, because I’m me, what happens if they’re also kinky AF? This love of villains didn’t start as an adult. Is there an individual of questionable morals running around, foiling our favorite hero? Are they remotely sexy? If the answer is yes, I’m probably rooting for them as much as I’m rooting for the good guys. It’s no surprise to anyone who follows me on social media, but I have a total villain complex. 6/29/2023 0 Comments Billy's Bones by Jamie FessendenFor me, it was cathartic to cry for another little boy, also for the little boy left behind and the man he has, and is trying to, become. I am sure some survivors could read Kevin’s horrifying story and spiral down into a deep place. I don’t want to give Billy’s Bones any more therapeutic credit than it deserves, it is a novel, not a self-help book. Fessenden loosened the reigns I have tightly held on the memories of some of my more painful experiences, he made me feel even more empathy for Kevin than for myself. I made the choice to commit to reading and reviewing it anyway. I saw the disclaimers about it maybe bringing up painful memories of childhood sexual abuse, of which I am a survivor. Learning to be a survivor, not a victim, gives new meaning to life” ― Lynette Gouldīilly’s Bones was the first book by Jamie Fessenden I had read. “Coming to terms with incest is not easy. 6/29/2023 0 Comments The briefcase hiromi kawakamiShe received the Tanizaki Prize in 2001 for her novel Sensei no kaban ( The Briefcase or Strange Weather in Tokyo), a love story about a friendship and romance between a woman in her thirties and her former teacher, a man in his seventies. She did not want to tell what she knew, but was compelled to speak the truth. Her step faltered as she moved towards the king, and he reached with his hands to steady her. Her dark eyes were wide with horror at the awful revelation which had just come to her. Griff seemed about to speak, and then changed his mind.
